MIKE CHLASCIAK Performs With THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN Drummer At 'School Of Rock' Opening
September 29, 2011Guitarist "Metal" Mike Chlasciak (HALFORD, SEBASTIAN BACH, TESTAMENT, PAINMUSEUM) performed at the grand-opening ceremony for the new location of School Of Rock in Farmingdale, New York on Saturday, September 24. The event offered attendees an up-close look at the school's new facilities, instructors and curriculum. The day also featured clinics by Metal Mike, Billy Rymer (THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN) and Joe Meyer (FOR THE TAKING). Everyone in attendance was treated to performances by bands consisting of school's students, with the final crescendo consisting of a one-time-only performance featuring Metal Mike, Billy and Joe. School Of Rock, D'Addario strings and Evans drumheads provided giveaways throughout the day.
"I was very happy to be a part of the day," said Mike. "I feel strongly about adding my input in the development of the young rockers and metallers of tomorrow. It was awesome to see such young kids with so much talent. To have the facility and the guidance that will help promote their creative and personal growth is really important and positive. I would also like to thank all the great students and folks at School Of Rock, D'Addario strings and certainly Billy and Joe for tearing it up when we jammed later in the day. All in all great time with a good cause!"
Metal Mike is currently putting the finishing touches on a solo record entitled "The Metalworker". The release will feature Mike's collaboration with vocal siren Carlos Zema and DAATH's Kevin Talley.
Mike's solo band debuted in 2010, playing select U.S. dates as the support act for German metallers PRIMAL FEAR.
Chlasciak pens a monthly column called "Metal For Life" for Guitar World magazine.
Mike has released five solo-based albums with bands PAINMUSEUM and ISOLATION CHAMBER. He recently released "This River Shall Burn", an e-book containing dark and introspective collection of lyrics. He previously wrote two metal guitar instructional books, "Ridiculous Riffs For The Terrifying Guitarist" and "Monster Coordination - Guitar Boot Camp".
